Having been with AT&T, T-MOB, Veriz, Metro POS etc., I’m blown away by Straight Talk.
To have the advantages of Verizon’s solid network without paying their high fees is great.
And since it’s sold at Walmart, I can always buy more airtime easily.

Great starter phone! I bought one of these, with the Straight Talk $30 ‘All you need’ plan, for my mom.
She doesn’t need all the fancy stuff they put in cell phones nowadays; in fact, she just gets confused by the ‘smarter’ phones.
So this really inexpensive, reliable phone is all she needs. And of course on the Straight Talk plan with it’s excellent coverage I can be sure that she is always in touch.
I have been a Straight Talk customer for several months and I freaking love the service. I purchased the Samsung Finesse phone at Walmart (an IPhone comparable phone) and I had a pretty uneventful activation call that took less than 20 minutes for the whole process. I had a minor problem concerning loading more minutes a few weeks ago, I called, spoke to someone, and it was taken care of in less than 5 minutes. Straight Talk, like so many other companies, has out-sourced its customer service and the chances for slip-ups is therefore so much greater. Not to mention, the company is less than a year old and a part of the Tracfone family so it is a prepaid company with plenty of time to grow. I really love Straight Talk and its sad that so many people seem to buy into the negative comments rather than try the service themselves.
I have to agree that this LG100C by Straight Talk is a great phone to graduate to if you’re currently using just a basic phone. You can get this phone with an All You Need Plan, which is 1000 minutes, 1000 messages, and 30 MB of data or Unlimited plan included in the price. As collegegirl83 points out, most companies outsource their customer service. So, no matter what company you deal with these days, you will encounter that frustrating customer service person who has no clue. The thing to remember, is that if you eventually do deal with this, at least you’re not paying high premiums for a contract phone.
I have a Straight Talk but I got the kids it for Christmas and they were thrilled! The double minutes is such a good? deal and the phones so cheap to buy that for less than $50.00 you get? the phone and the airtime! The service is so reliable I don’t have to worry about the kids having dropped calls or bad reception!
