It is simple if you Use your Phone for Messages you will save with a prepaid phone.

If you use your cell phone to chat you will spend a lot of money on minutes.

The Secret to using a Tracfone without spending a lot of money is to keep your messages short, don’t talk for 20 minutes when 2 minutes will get your message across.

Text Messaging Can Save Minutes
If you text message it will cost you .5 minutes to send and to receive on most Tracfones and all Net10 phones.  A simple text to get a message to someone is quick and cheap.

If you banter back and forth with text messages you can eat up minutes quickly.  Again chatting on a cell phone is expensive.  A friend of mine’s son regularly has over 2000 text messages a month.  His plan gives him unlimited text messages so it is only around $60 a month for his phone.

The Other Tracfone Secret is the Tracfone Coupons. With a Tracfone coupon when you purchase Tracfone Minutes and add the 5 digit coupon code you will get a lot more minutes. Also the larger denomination Tracfone Card you buy the less expensive the minutes.  Here is a simple link to find Bonus Coupons and buy Tracfone Minutes.

Do NOT buy a Net10 phone. It isn’t as simple or evil-free as they make it sound. I bought a phone to use for emergencies only, and was told at the point of purchase that since there is “no contract,” I would never be obliged to buy more minutes than I actually need, nor would there be a schedule under which I’d have to buy the minutes I did need. This was all false. I found AFTER purchasing the phone that you are REQUIRED to either buy huge amounts of air time in advance in order to keep your phone active, or to buy a MINIMUM of 200 minutes a month – again, just to keep your phone active, not because you need the air time. The only way you can cut the cost down to merely $15 a month is to enroll in a “plan” that automatically bills you $15 a month for 150 minutes – even if you only need 50 minutes. Net10 will end up costing you MORE, not less, if you use it as your only phone. I am now stuck with 300 minutes I’ve already paid for, and six days in which to use them before the investment I’ve already made is just lost.

“No contract, no hassle, no evil” is a joke. Don’t fall for it! There will be a bill every month, no matter what they say or what they call it, or you just plain have no more phone service no matter h ow many minutes of air time you’ve already paid for.
